Strawberry Moonshine
INGREDIENTS
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 750 ml grain alcohol (like Everclear, preferably 190 proof)

INSTRUCTIONS
Prepare the Strawberry Syrup: In a large saucepan, combine the sliced strawberries, granulated sugar, and water. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar completely. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for approximately 10-15 minutes. This allows the strawberries to soften and the liquid to become syrupy. Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the strawberry syrup to cool to room temperature. Once cooled, strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve to remove any solids, pressing down on the strawberries to extract as much liquid as possible.

Combine with Grain Alcohol: Transfer the strained syrup to a large mason jar or airtight container. Add the grain alcohol (Everclear) to the strawberry syrup and stir well to combine.

Seal and Age: Seal the jar or container tightly and store it in a cool, dark place for at least 2 weeks. This aging period allows the flavors to meld together and intensify.
