NOTES
Another popular classic cocktail from Prohibition days, the stinger used crème de menthe to mask the low-quality brandy available at the time. It has an illustrious list of fans, including many famous literary luminaries such as Ian Fleming, Evelyn Waugh, and Somerset Maugham. When it comes to cocktails made with an intense amount of crème de menthe, you're either a mint-flavor aficionado or you aren't and this drink will certainly help determine which camp you fall into. Served as a nightcap, it is always made with the white (clear) crème de menthe, never the green. Technically, you can make a Stinger with any kind of liquor, whether it's rum, bourbon, Galliano, or tequila, just as long as it has the crème de menthe.
