Cincinnati
INGREDIENTS
  • Beer (usually a lager or a light beer)
  • Ginger Ale (or lemonade)

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Choose Your Beer: Select a light beer or lager. The choice of beer can affect the taste of the cocktail, so choose one that you enjoy drinking on its own.
  2. Mix with Ginger Ale or lemonade: In a glass, mix the beer with ginger ale. The typical ratio is about half beer and half ginger ale, but you can adjust this according to your taste. Some prefer a stronger beer flavor, while others might enjoy more ginger ale.
  3. Stir Gently: Stir the mixture gently to combine. Avoid vigorous stirring as it can cause the beer to lose carbonation.
  4. Serve: Serve the cocktail chilled. You can add ice if desired, but it's not commonly done as it can dilute the drink.
  5. Optional Garnish: While not traditional, you can garnish with a slice of lemon or lime for an extra zing.

NOTES
The "Cincinnati" is a unique and simple beverage, primarily known in the Midwestern United States.   This cocktail is known for its refreshing and easy-drinking quality, making it a popular choice for casual gatherings and warm weather. The ginger ale adds a sweet, spicy twist to the beer, creating a light and enjoyable drink.

The earliest recipe I have for this cocktail is in a book published in 1900 named "Modern American Drinks" and the recipe calls for using lemon soda.  By 1910 in the book "Jack's Manual" the recipe is made with soda or ginger ale.  I have tried this recipe with both lemonade and gingerale and both are delicious.
