Blackberry Syrup
INGREDIENTS
- 2 cups fresh blackberries
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
INSTRUCTIONS
- Combine Ingredients: In a saucepan, combine the blackberries, sugar, and water. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
- Simmer: Once boiling, reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer. You want the blackberries to break down and the sugar to fully dissolve, which should take about 10-15 minutes.
- Mash the Blackberries: As the blackberries soften, gently mash them with a spoon or a masher to release more juice and flavor.
- Strain: After simmering, remove the pan from the heat. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a bowl or jar. This will remove the blackberry seeds and pulp, leaving you with a smooth syrup.
- Cool: Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature. Then, transfer it to a bottle or jar for storage.
- Refrigerate: Store the blackberry syrup in the refrigerator. It should keep well for about two weeks.
